Raoul (47) was born and raised in the Black Forest and is living in Hamburg. He is a degreed writer-producer, dramaturge and fully qualified attorney at law. In 2004 he completed his film studies in Hamburg with honors and won 30 international awards with his short feature teams. He learned his cinematic and legal media craft at Zide/Perry Entertainment in Los Angeles (American Pie, Dir. Paul Weitz and Final Destination, Dir. James Wong), Ciby 2000 in Paris (Secrets & Lies, Dir. Mike Leigh and Fallait pas…!, Dir. Gérard Jugnot), IAC Films/The Mission in London (Everybody loves Sunshine, Dir. Andrew Goth) and Eurosport S.A. in Paris. From 2004 to 2006 he worked for the Bavaria Film Group in international co-production (1200° – The Truth will Survive, Avalanche of the Century). From 2007 to 2009 he produced for Polyphon Film (Father Brown, Koyama’s Menu). For the historical feature Lessons of a Dream (Dir. Sebastian Grobler) – the entertaining story, how, in 1874, football made it to Germany against all odds – he founded Cuckoo Clock Entertainment. The film received 3 German Film Award Nominations (a.o. “Best Film”), won 10 international awards and was sold in over 80 countries. He developed and produced the documentary 16xGermany – Hamburg/kollektiv22 with German Film Award Winners Özgür Yildirim (Dir.) and Sebastian Thümler (Editor) about music in Hamburg. The comedy series Jennifer – Longing for Better won the German Comedy Award (Yes, it really exists!).-
Raoul produces and develops several feature films, TV series and miniseries. He is currently concentrating on the TV-miniseries Dengler for ZDF (Writer/Dir. Lars Kraume, German Film, TV and Grimme Award Winner), political thrillers and adaptions of German Crime Award Winner Wolfgang Schorlau’s novels. He has just finished the Finnish-German feature comedy The Grump – In Search of an Escort from Mika Kaurismäki.
Besides the film business, Raoul worked as trademark consultant, won the Innovation Award of the German Economy® for Start-Ups and partly works as an attorney at law mainly in Media Law. Raoul is member of the German and the European Film Academy, member of the Advisory Board an Hamburg Media School and co-founder of „Hamburg lives cinema!/Hamburg lebt Kino!“. He is married and has two little children.
