Hamburg, 29/09/26. The series project HAMBURG DOGS won the first MOIN & LUMI Emerging Storytellers Grant on the Impact Stage during the Industry Days at Filmfest Hamburg 2026.
The comedy series tells the story of newly minted lawyers Ademako and Jori, who, together with Jori’s sister Emmi, set up a Robin Hood-style law firm in Hamburg-Billstedt. Nestled between a kebab shop, a betting office, and a hookah bar, they represent people who otherwise cannot afford legal assistance. In the process, they regularly find themselves in moral gray areas, dealing with shady cases, and creating chaos of their own making.
Jury Statement: “We all think the concept is incredibly bold and fast-paced. It’s a modern story that strikes a chord with young adults and truly addresses the issues of social class and legal counsel. We want to honor your work and your impressive journey to this point. The regional connection is extraordinary—you really have your sights set on the world.”
The jury consisted of author Duygu Ağal, screenwriter Sophia Ayissi, actor and filmmaker Lamin Leroy Gibba, film scholar and journalist Schayan Riaz, and Katrin Mersmann, head of the funding department at MOIN Filmförderung.
Oscar Bornmann is now developing the project together with producer, German Comedy Award winner, and attorney Raoul Reinert as co-writer and Cuckoo Clock Entertainment. (photo: Claudia Höhne)
